“As someone who never had physical therapy before, I am amazed at how much it has helped me. I was in so much pain with my shoulder that it was hard to work. I work from home and sit at my computer all day. I was having to take Aleve every day. By using the tools Katie has given me, and doing my exercises, I am no longer taking medicine for pain and feel so much better. Katie’s attention to detail and her knowledge and skills surpassed my expectations. The individualized program went to the source of my pain and accelerated the healing process. I would highly recommend Katie and Body in Rhythm Physical Therapy and Wellness to friends and family. I have hope now that I will be able to get in better shape. Thank you, Katie!”

“While normally physical therapy can be an arduous chore, having therapy sessions with Katie Henson was always a pleasure. I found myself looking forward to therapy sessions with her. I always learned something new and I always found Katie to be motivating. Her level of knowledge and professionalism is always top notch. I requested her services when I needed therapy a second time and I would not hesitate to return to her if needed.”

“I’ve suffered from urinary incontinence for almost 10 years (I’m guessing related to menopause). I’m very active and it was creating huge problems. No matter how much I tried to empty my bladder before I would run or walk, I would be wet to my knees (even with a heavy pad) by the time I had finished. Sneezing, coughing, and worst of all laughing (guffawing) were nightmares. I slept with a towel between my legs because I couldn’t make the 13 steps to my toilet. And then of course there was sex……

I never had children and thought this problem only came with multiple pregnancies. Nonetheless, I assumed this was just going to be part of mature living, but when I no longer could live with it I consulted my very tuned in gynecologist. He referred me in turn to a very tuned in urologist. He diagnosed me with slight bladder prolapse and gave me several options. (Surgery, medications, or physical therapy.) I jumped at the opportunity for physical therapy. (I consider surgery to be a very last resort and avoid medication if at all possible. I’m very dry elsewhere and any medication that would help bladder leakage would also dry out my mouth, eyes, skin, hair, intestinal tract and vagina even worse.)

Katie began evaluating me and explaining with models exactly what was happening inside of my body. I turns out that not only was I battling with incontinence, but my bladder size was restricted with tightened ligaments. Also, I had a nervous bladder. (I’ve suffered from nervous bladder at least half of my life. I couldn’t walk past a bathroom without feeling panicky that I couldn’t wait, sometimes it only ended up being a few drops.) Katie taught me that this was because my bladder was in charge.

Before physical therapy my bladder capacity was very low and now with exercise, manual therapy and a different mindset, it is normal. I can for the first time sleep through the night without having to get up to void my bladder. I no longer wear a pad to work and am about 90% back to normal as far a bladder leakage with exertion. I can cough and sneeze most of the time without an accident. When I do have a whoopsie it’s much less (a few drops vs wetting all the way through my pants.)

I can enjoy sex again without the fear of leakage (and my husband appreciates the result of the kegel exercises.) I will soon turn 60 and prior to Katie’s help, my problem had gotten progressively worse so quickly, I was dreading the rest of my life. Now I can’t wait for the new adventures life will bring.

My husband and I have traveled extensively nationally and internationally. This includes remote places where restrooms aren’t always so available. Upon retirement we look forward to even more great adventures and thanks to Katie’s help, I know the focus of my journeys won’t be wondering where I can find a restroom.

Katie is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Her communication skills are excellent. I’ve studied anatomy, but really didn’t have that great of an understanding of my body and exactly what happens when things go wrong. I’m so glad I found Katie and I highly recommend her as a physical therapist.”

Following is my testament to Dr. Henson for a job well done:

“Dr. Henson was my pelvic therapist for the last few months. and I recently completed the therapy sessions. Dr. Henson demonstrated a lot of expertise, knowledge, kindness and concern for me.

She made me feel very comfortable, so we could work together for the best possible results. Her concern about the techniques required for optimum therapy was impressive.

I believe that I had the best pelvic therapist that could be found. Her intelligence, patience and genuine concern made me feel that she really cares about her patients, and I thrived under her tutelage.”
